Bass Fly Fishing Patterns

Bass fly patterns are seldom talked about  because you really don't need a lot of them but your fly box should contain at least most of this list.

  • Clouser's Minnow: Bob's pattern is still one of the best. Good in a variety of sizes and patterns.

  • The Muddler Minnow: Gapen's original pattern as well as the many knock offs including the Maribou Muddler is an often over looked fly.

  • Large fur nymphs are deadly on both smallmouths and largemouths especially in streams

  • Dragon fly nymph patterns.  Always have a couple, work well in some waters.

  • Maribou streamers are still hard to beat.  Yellow, black, white, and combinations with red work well as does orange.

  • Large Dry Flies like Stimulator Patterns will work on both lakes and streams.  Especially good on quite waters for wary bass.
